A few random comments on network scheduling for next fall now that the upfronts are out:
FOX -- kiss my ass. Yeah, I knew Terminator was a goner, but still. You suck.
Dollhouse renewed? Umm... I still need to play catch up on the series, but even if it improved drastically I'd have gone w/ CXing this show and renewing T:TSCC. WHATEVER, FUX.
Also -- I heard that they're moving Fringe to Thurday nights opposite SPN? Thanks a lot, FUX. Businesswise, I actually get it. But dammit, two directly competing genre shows. Niiiiice one. Oh well. SPN has its core audience that holds fairly steady, and did so when competing against another genre show in the past (Lost). So, whatever FUX.
Big news on the CW:
Smallville getting moved to Friday nights? Seriously?
SPN gets The Vampire Diaries as a new lead-in? Ummm...
This could be good or bad. I don't know anything about TVD, guess I'll end up checking it out from curiousity. If it's a tweener-aimed show whose demo is young females, it might be a better fit than Smallville. After all, SPN didn't do so bad following Gilmore Girls, back in the day.
Of course, I'm surprise they aren't giving TVD an established lead-in. Flip the two - SPN first, then TVD. I suspect this is because SPN is a more adult show and TVD is, as speculated already, going to be fluff. I'd bet the 8pm crowd is a bit too young for SPN in the network's eyes, unless they wanted to make Kripke back off the gore some.
It'll be interesting to see how this schedule change of Smallville/TVD works out. I have no real predictions at this point.
The rest of the upfronts? Whatever, for the moment.
