Criminal Minds last night:
VERY good ep.
The question of honesty/trust with the public vs. living in fear/what's best for the greater good... I love when we deal with questions that don't have a good answer. Arguments can be made for both sides, but there is no clear cut right or wrong conclusion.
Would you rather know, and live a life of paranoia/fear? How is that any kind of quality of life?
Or be kept in ignorance, and live at a higher risk as a consequence. They say ignorance is bliss... I supposed unless it gets you killed.
So how to walk that fine line of telling enough but not too much, so we can live in freedom of fear but still have an awareness that not all is puppies and sunshine in the world...
On the character front:
Emily rocked. That "don't Emily me" bit -- HEE.
Reid -- that hero complex of his is going to get him killed one of these days. But fortunately the ep didn't dominate as a "Reid in peril" VSE -- that was my one worry going into it based on the preview. Also the "no narcotics" callback to Reid's past addiction issue -- LOVED. Continuity, I love so hard.
Hotch -- Horribly difficult day at the office, but doing his job, staying focused, not getting distracted with the many things that could have tripped up his working the case effectively, handling the politics adroitly... In short, being Hotch and doing everything I expect of him. He's Da Man. And giving Jack that phone call, again a continuity thing that we've seen him do after dealing with some prior difficult cases, making his emotional connection to his son his decompressor/affirmation of Hotch the Person, not just Hotch the Boss who can't let emotion rule his judgement.
Next week... pigs??? TWO HOUR FINALE. Set those recorders for the extra hour. Man, I'm excited. I think this season's gonna end with a bang.
