I did go forth and see Up yesterday, and for what it's worth, I give it a Two Thumbs fully extended UP. Damn good movie, it managed to be inspiring with a fair amount of sentiment without ever crossing over into sugar shock overload, and I left the theater in a mood that was vastly on an UPswing compared to my earlier feeling of grumpy ugh. Without getting into specific spoilers for the movie, but just some generalized commentary: If you need or want to feel like life is still out there waiting for you to get your ass in gear and live -- and it's entirely doable simply by recognizing this simple fact, and that the things you take for granted can still supply you with a feeling of happiness and satisfaction with a mere difference in how you look at it -- GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Or if you simply want to see a good movie. Period. Pixar never disappoints, but I'd say this one has made me the happiest in a long time. Current Mood:  ecstaticJune 14th, 2009:

I blame The Ackles and his new hairdo at Asylum this weekend for the fact that I've spent the last couple of evenings watching Dark Angel S2. Because of the MmmmAlec hair and stuff. If we ever wanted to know what Alec would look like with a few more years on him? Yeah. Check out the Asylum pics. Also got reminded that this really was a rather crappy show, but damned if Alec doesn't make it entertaining. Nothing funnier than when he's calling out other self-righteous characters on their BS -- with that smart-ass grin on his face. "Does this qualify as 'stealing from a bad guy'?" Damn. Makes me wish all over again we had gotten more DA, even with some of the surrounding drek, because I wants more Alec. Posting on a couple of random thoughts: Playing auntie with a 2yo nephew is fun. All you have to do is chomp bacon and make RAWR RAWR noises as you chew and he thinks you're the Funniest Thing EVER. You win bonus points for letting him feed you a piece and you chomp it all the way up his fingers. (Yes, he got bit. No, he didn't mind.) On the rumor I'm hearing about the proposed Buffy the movie reboot without JW or any of the original cast on board: This is going to be EPIC FAIL. Which is too bad, because the casting, etc issue could so easily be avoided by simply choosing a different timeline/Slayer to play with, and then you don't have a bunch of PO'd Buffy/SMG/JW fans boycotting and badmouthing. Or simply do a vampire movie without the name Buffy attached. Sounds like they want to reboot the movie franchise with a different take anyway, darker/drama/etc. So... again. Also, I keep hearing this distant squee about some movie called... Star Trek? that I should probably get around to seeing? :) But first, this weekend Terminator is on my watch list. I got my Baby back! Woot! Rental car turned in, my baby is all fixed from the minor damage of that rear-ending from Mr. Distracted, and it's all good. I can't believe that's the first accident she's ever been in. Thank goodness it was minor, but it's still a bit of a statistical miracle. I've had her since '98, after all. Man, it's a good thing we get a new SPN ep in just a few hours, or I don't know if my willpower would hold up. Yesterday on the freeway I saw a tow truck getting ticketed by the police. I smiled. And maybe laughed. A lot. No I don't still resent my brother getting towed out of MY apartment parking space at my last place of residence. At all. I wonder if it was the same company. *daydreams* Criminal Minds last night. First off, CBS did something screwy with their scheduling or programming. My TV Guide put the new ep at 9pm (usual time), followed by the usual CSI:NY. However, that's NOT what played when. Instead, we got a CM rerun followed by a new CM ep in the CSI:NY time slot.
